| Bull Run Slalom Nov 17-18 POSTPONED to
Dec 2-3 due to low water.
Unfortunately, the Bull Run River has not been
cooperative; it is dropping fast now. The next two days will be sunny
and dry, so it is unlikely that we will have sufficient water levels
to allow anyone to get down the whole course.
The guage is at https://levels.wkcc.org/?P=Oregon.html. We need more than 500 cfs on the Bull Run at Bull Run gauge and less than 1700 cfs.
So, the race is postponed until Dec. 2,
3 — two weeks from this weekend.

Northwest Whitewater Slalom Cup Race #3 is April 29-30, 2023
on the Chilliwack River in British Columbia (about 3 hours north of Seattle).
There will be classes for both
plastic boats and race boats.
The campground and the slalom
course has been restored from last year’s flood!

With great sadness we will be celebrating the life of our beloved fellow paddler David "Z" Zimmerman Friday and Saturday March 24-25, 2023. Dave died unexpectedly on March 12, 2023. Z was a stalwart of the Washington slalom community; Active as a racer, an instructor and an expert course constructor putting in many hours over 20 years. Always happy to teach others and always showed up to help and race. Z was a strong and beautiful paddler and won many races and numerous NW Cup Series titles. Together we were the best K2 paddling team west of the Mississippi! Information on his memorial March 25 is here: http://sites.google.com/view/davez/ There will also be a memorial slalom paddle on the Cedar Gates on March 24th from 2:30-5:30. A memorial paddle on the Middle Fork Snoqualmie still be held Saturday morning meeting 10 am at the Memorial site on the river. With love, Jennie Goldberg

NW WHITEWATER RACING NEWS SPRING 2023 IMPORTANT DATES: March 25-26 – BULL RUN SLALOM near Sandy, Oregon The river is cooperating, but the weather will be a bit cold. Cold helps though as it keeps the river from being too high. We are going forward with the race. We will have the front gate latched, but not locked, this is the right side which has a padlock that can be opened, then open the gate then drive through and close it. Drive very slowly through the property and down to the river. Park along the fence on your left.
Rufus and I will be there around 10:30 am until 2:00 pm
on Friday then we will be there Sat and Sun from about 10 am onwards.
You launch your boats on by sliding them down a cement wall on river
left.

April 29-30 - Rich Weiss Memorial Slalom - Tamihi Rapids Chilliwack, British Columbia. CEDAR GATES PADDLING. – ‘tis the Season! Flows are good. Come join us. All are welcome. Anyone may drop gates and paddle there anytime. PLEASE, always pull the gates back up when done. Want to paddle with others? Don’t know how to adjust the gates? We’re out there frequently. If you want to know when we go, please drop Jennie an email at theleague@nwwhitewater.org and ask to be on the texting and/or email list, to communicate last minute or planned times you’re going or would like to go! I’ll often post on social media, but no guarantees as not everyone is on facebook. Currently Jacob is often there on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Weekends are common also. There are enthusiasts for both mid-day paddling and after work paddling (now that we have more daylight). You’re bound to connect and the more the merrier and fun!
